Check with GDS amps. I know they have a good 36 watt set, but I'm not sure if it has European taps on the PT primary.

What Rjgtr said! I heard only good things about GDS.
If GDS tranny hasn't 240V tap > MM or Heyboer, both is excellent choice.
... or Hammond guitar series still good...
If you don't find "specifically" Marshall 36W set, you can use AC30 style PT, OT.

I have been thinking about converting my 18 watter into 36 watter and been also thinking about the Hammond guitar series... Curiously there are two alternatives! "AC30 Vintage" and "AC30 Reissue" output transformers. I can't find any info about the differences between these two. The reissue model is about 10% more expensive, though.

Does anyone have more experience on either of these?

Interesting, here it (where i live) the price is equal... :)
I sent a email to Hammond and i got a PDF about two trannies.
What i know, is a little dimension difference between two, and what i saw on the pics, vintage version's all wire is come out only one "hole" ...in other words the primary and secondary isn't separated...
I think the relevant things (pri/sec impedance, power rating.. etc) are identical. This is why i think reissue is better: separated pimary and secondary, little bit lesser size...

Interesting indeed.... I don't know why the reissue model is a bit more expensive here in Finland. Oh well, I think I might go for the AC30 reissue OT if I take the plunge... Hammond 1645 would be an another available choice here, but the AC30 OT looks much cooler IMO :)

Agree AC30 tranny looks cooler  .
.... and (if i not wrong) sound will be better, because 1645 rather a more HI-FI sounding tranny (this is what i heard... i never tried...)

Equal price (unfortunately Hammond is very expensive in Europe :( )

Thanks, that's an another good alternative, if not the best because of it's authenticity.

Yeah, the transformer price is a bit.... high here in Europe. The "dollar-to-euro" ratio of 1:1 applies here... meaning a $80 transformer turns into a 80 euro transformer :)

Actually, the Euro is high right now so my 36W transformer set at US$170 is only 114 Euros right now. Add to that a few extra Euros for shipping to Europe typically around 20Euros extra), and it is a relative bargain.

I have a few 36W OTs in stock and one 36W standup PT. The laydown PTs that fit in the 18W cutout will be back in stock shortly.
