Re: 36W Turretboard Layout
It may be an illusion of forced perspective, but the left-most backup diode on the tube rectifier socket appears to be touching the body of the cap can. Killer job though, very clean.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes that's an illusion, the diode is about a centimeter below the can.

Craig.. you're doing a mighty fine build there!!! Ain't it a joy when you think of the money you'd have to spend on letting someone build it like THAT for you??

Thanks so much Bieworm. This is for a friend, he paid for all the parts and I'm contributing the labor for free.

Thanks Riffmonster -- hopefully she'll be like a rock & roll girlfriend: looking clean and sounding dirty!

Re: 36W Turretboard Layout
Any special purpose for that? A 36 Watt won't lack headroom...
Is it for a tight sound?

Re: 36W Turretboard Layout
Yes. And of course it can be switched off. With NFB off and running in half power it will be similar to a typical 18W circuit. The tone stack is shifted down a bit from a Marshall TMB, with the mid notch the same dB depth but the frequency moved down to 400Hz. The channels don't mix until they hit the PI, which is also a bit different than Marshall.

Djeez Craig, even if the amp won't run... you can still hang it on the wall like a painting.
That is the type of build where you feel bad about putting it in a cab and hide all that beauty...
Is the cab on order or are you going to make that one yourself too?

Re: 36W Turretboard Layout
Thanks very much Bieworm!
I have a Cab on order from Weber, The 6M18/36 1x12. It's done except for the tolex, we had some custom color coming from Q Components in Canada for a racing stripe that's been held up by USPS somewhere between customs and Kokomo since June 27th. I'll probably mount it in one of the 2x12 cabs I have sitting in the shop just to test it in the meantime.

It's going to be a killer amp..that's for sure!!
But a 1x12? That means you will have to put in a 50 watt speaker at least. Isn't that gonna hijack the 18 watt vibe when switched to half power?

Re: 36W Turretboard Layout
The owner wants a neo creamback because he wants light weight and portability for gigging. I've convinced him to try out several other celestions and WGS speakers even though I did buy a neo. It'll be His choice based on the "hearing test" ... I'd really like to put a ruby in it for him to try but I'm already past budget.

I'd love to hear a demo with a neo.crgfrench wrote: ↑Sat 07/25/20 9:56 amThe owner wants a neo creamback because he wants light weight and portability for gigging.
