News From the Old Mullard Plant

Post by tbradshaw »

Saw this linked at The Gear Page regarding tubes once again being produced at Mullard's Blackburn facility.

The video of Mullard's tube production is very cool...

Here's the GearPage link if you're logged-in over there.

If you're not a TGP member, the basics include: Production starting this month; first tubes available in Oct.; A tube dealer saying the wholesale price indicates a retail of well over $50 (for ECC81, ECC82 and ECC83 tubes).

Well that looks interesting... The plates look really peculiar.

Time will tell if it's a marketing ploy (like reissue Mullards from New Sensor) or the real deal. I'll be among the first in line to try out those funny plates.

We could sure use a legit stable preamp tube, I simply can't believe the failure rate I've come across lately. And it's not like $14 for a preamp tube is cheap, when they seem to last less than 3 months.

Thanks for the heads up on these!

Oh, well...I'd skipped the latest "I like tubes" thread and missed an earlier link to the TechTube story...

I guess it's worthy of its own thread. Sorry for the duplication.
