EL81 anyone?

Post by jodie »

Is a EL81 close or similar to a EL84?

Thanks

I'm afraid it's not close at all. An EL81 is a low-power pentode for TVs, which can handle peak voltages of up to 7000V. 8O

It's definitely not a drop-in replacement for EL84. It's biased differently and looks like its output power is slightly less... and the filament current is higher. You might be able to mod your circuit to use them, but someone else will have to determine that. :D

EL81 has a top connection. That's too much work.
