PL84 tubes.

Post by Neonknight »

Hi All,

I have an Output Transformer of a Hohner Orgaphon amplifier.
The manual says it was using 2pcs PL84 tubes push-pull at 380V plate voltage (28mA Bias).
Is it true that it can produce 30W or not?
Some people says that PL84 tubes can produce about the same power as EL84s (maximum 20W).
The manual of the amp says that the output voltage is 22V at 16Ohm, wich is 30W.
I could not find datasheets for this tube with ratings for this high plate-voltage.
What do you think?
Here is the schematic:

The PL84 audio output pentode was designed for use in television receivers. Like the UL84 with a 100mA heater it is a low voltage high current version of the EL84, itself a standard in design.
According to , the datasheet, power is the same as the EL84, but you can still get 13-15 watts with B+ as low as 170 volts.
Interesting tube.
