Gold Lion Reissue EL84's?

Post by Alexo »

These are out: http://thetubestore.com/goldlionel84.html

Anybody try 'em? I didn't even know the Genalex EL84 was "famed."

...listening to a pair of GL RI KT66's in a stereo right now and they sound fantastic, but they can't handle biasing to 17 watts at 440 volts without redplating, so I'm skeptical about the durability in this brand...

AFAIK Genelex aka M-OV just rebadged Mullard EL84s.

I don't think the current Gold Lion brand has anything to do with Genelex or M-OV. BTW I have a pair of Gold Lion Retro KT66s and have had them running happily at 40mA/400V....

They are another New Sensor rebranding, to my understanding.

Oops, I think the KT66s were actually Gold Dragon - ie made by Shuguang. So please ignore my comments about them.
