Newbie..having tremelo valve problems..?

Post by Bassybeats »

Right ive just finished building a 18watt original and am having troubles getting the tremelo to go. the only way i have managed to get it to go is by having a mullard and sovtek combo in the v2 and v3. the mullard was robbed from another amp so need to know what people have had working in this section so i can put it back.

Ive tried a sovtek and a chinese 12ax7, two chinese tubes, sovtek and tunsol, in many combos and no luck at all!! cant figure out why it is doing this, both the tunsol and sovtek 12ax7's are brand new.

i need to order a new tube and was wanting a matched brand set, but dont know what to get? weather both sovtek or something else..?

any help would be great..

I always use JJ's or EH and they always work. I have used Sovtek WA's with no problem. Most of my trem valve problems have been due to using old valves. Just because its a Mullard or Brimar doesn't mean its any good. Maybe you have a problem elsewhere.

Take a good look at Richie's most recent layout -

and see if that helps you to a resolution.
