That's a GREAT article. In the HiFi world, no one actually uses log taper pots. Everyone uses linear and creates their own taper using the method described.
Also, if you have one of those pesky guitar pots that jumps at around 7 and/or goes dull as you turn it down, replace it with a linear pot and use a resistor to create the taper. Problem solved.
I also used this method to create a tone control in a Carmen Ghia that turns the right way because it was screwing with a guy's head :)
