Mullard el38

Post by Bulatovic »

Guys, i just found a Mullard EL38 at my friend's who doesn't even know what is it, so it is virtually mine now :D
Can anyone tell me what is it like - i assume similar to EL34 or is it? Would you recommend to use it for a project?
Thanks

It's a high power TV tube - nothing like an EL34. But you could use it in something like a Beast Champ or P1 eXtreme. The spec on http://www.mif.pg.gda.pl/homepages/fran ... e/EL38.pdf suggests using a 120 ohm cathode resistor with a B+ of 300V. So for a Beast Champ or P1eX, you would maybe need something like 150 or 180 ohms. Not sure what load impedance would be required, so a little work with load lines would probably be needed.
