Toroidal Output XFMS

Post by HenryMars »

As I plan this project , I find that the output xfmr is probably the most crital component. Has anyone used a torroidal OT and if so, what are benefits if any? It seems to me that the toroidal is less lossy but I have never seen one of these used in a guitar amp. (At least in any of the amp schematics I have studied to date.)

Some modern amps use them. I've seen pictures of the guts with them in. From what people have told me, torooidal trannies are more hifi. They might not really be suitable for guitar amps. Theres a reason the big boys use the normal C core transformers.
