JCM800 like preamp pedal build?

Post by Bulatovic »

Hi guys,
I guess that similar question has been asked before, but due to forum's amazing search feature i wasn't quite able to find it :D
Basically, what i am looking for is a overdrive pedal TUBE DRIVEN. I am looking for something that will give me sound of JCM800 without remaking the whole amp which i've got. Is there anything similar that you can recommend me? I guess that it should have 2 valves in order to get that higher gained sound. Would hum be a serious issue here, and is it very difficult to build. Well i would make my own PT (at a servicer in Serbia) for that which would give me about 150V secondary and 6.3V for heathers.
What layout should i use?

Thanks!

It's not that hard. You just need a good (safe) ground lift. And it takes up quite a bit of space to do a pre like that unless you are very crafty.

It's not tube, but to my knowledge there is nothing you can build that will get you closer to that tone than a BSIAB II it is a little noisy but it has the tone..........
