Live Gabriel Shop Cam!

Post by Gabi »

Hi Gang!

Quick post to let you know of a Live Shop cam over at my Sound Garage. I thought some of you might find it entertaining to see some amps coming together:

Enjoy!

Gabi (Gabriel).

Boo,

Maybe we could get DIYNetwork intersted... after all they've covered the building of a violin from stock to finish.

Would be nice to see a documentry on any tube amp build, especially an 18watt clone or variant.

Thanks Gang!

Who needs commercial TV netweork when we can build our own underground DIY Channel! Hehe

Anyway - I updated the Gabtone TV Broadcast ( http://www.gabtone.com/gabtoneTV.php ) with a mix of how to videos and some amp demos. As I said, I'll have periodical live Shop Cams as well (Usually after 3:00 p.m. CST - Chicago time).

I'll also enable the chat so you guys can ask what am I talking about - :-)

Enjoy!

Gabi.

Phil is right! The Cliff jack nuts are metric! need to find a set that fits them.

I meant for the pots, power & standby switches. I went to a buddy who works at a machine shop to make me a thin wrench so I can put the knurled part outside and the hex nut on the inside.

I think it was more of an honour for me of being able to step inside your workshop, even if in a virtual kind of way. :D Too bad my wife called me out to do something, just as I was starting to enjoy the webcast.... :(

Hi 18w Gang!

Many thanks first for the big crowd watching the live Gabtone TV Live broadcast witnessing the first startup of the G18 amp I was working on!

Unfortunately there were no pyrotechnics for you there - lol. I had some trouble with the video camera's mic, but then switching things around (I used an SM57 connected to an audio interface) corrected that and the tone was way better.

Today about the same time (say 4:00 p.m. CST - Chicago), will be running a short demo through the amp, playing it with several settings, etc., and welcoming whatever questions you might have via the chat.

Make sure you finish your boss's tasks, feed your dog, pop a movie to your kids, so you be there to another exciting amp cooking show!

And as always, you can tune in to Gabtone TV here:

http://www.gabtone.com/gabtoneTV.php

See you later!

Gabi.

I didn't believe that thing about the outer foil of a coupling cap. After seeing Gabi's video on it, I am sure that is what makes the hiss in my Express variant. So, where do I find the schematic for that thing?

Edit: never mind, I couldn't find it here, but Google found it for me.
