Just finished the chassis build...
Fired right up and barkin' out some great tones....
Fun project, great learning experience.
Waiting on the Plexi Panels, and I'm planning on building a head cab.

Great to see another build with the valves at the front.
With the inputs so close to V1 it cures a lot of potential problems.

Sweet build! I really like that look.
Where did you get your chassis?

Nice,

The only thing I might have done differently is the grounding. I would have put all of my ground connections on the same lug (Star grounding), off of the transformer bolts.

It's great to see the return of GDS' Single-channel (ie 18W Lite)! :D

No VVR? Want some cotton swabs for the ear bleeds? Lolol.

Me too, but I would have fitted a dedicated ground post, rather than using a fixture bolt.

Nice - and different. I thought I was looking at the frontplate in a mirror!
Interesting to note that GDS also have "the new Mini-18W" (Lite Combo) in the offing.
(Doesn't look too much like a Marshall, mind you. Looks like it should have been done in tweed ......)

Thanks!!
Thats the new GDS chassis that came w/ the kit.

Also, regarding some of the other comments:
This is my first 18 Watt PTP build, I simply followed the instruction manual pretty much to the T.
I have no problems w/ noise, performance, tone, or anything else so far..

That looks like a great kit! I love the stripped-down minimalism of a SC!

Dan,

Great looking amp! BTW, welcome to 18Watt.com.

Guys, I heard Dan's SC on Wed. evening and it sounds great.

That is the new GDS 18W SC chassis. It is available now. I have gold plexi panels for both front and rear panels. THe rear panel has provisions for an impedance switch, two output jacks and a fuse and IEC socket. The front panel has holes in it for a TMB if you want to try that. The plexi panel covers those up for now but I'll have a few TMB panels made up very soon. I'll get some photos up on my webpage soon and get it on the parts page so purchasing is made easy. In the meanwhile if you want one, just send me an email.

Graydon,

You should consider offering the GDS SC with a chassis/cage that would be
along the lines of the Vox Night Train, Orange Tiny Terror, etc.

Cheers,

Jeff

Jeff,

That is a good idea. It could provide an enclosure at a fraction of the cost of a typical head cabinet. I have put a little thought into that concept over the last couple years but I haven't prototyped anything just yet.

A GDS lunchbox head would be a cool thing indeed...

Too funny Barry....

I once saw a guy mount some rack gear into a Budwiser Case of Beer Box, but there were no beers inside : ( just a preamp and some FX...
