Ace's 18watt high gain ThunderTweaker

Post by Ampman5150 »

What are the cap values on the first gain and tone pots of this design?
(Sorry.. just have the layout here in front of me)

I'm going to match this preamp up to an existing 6V6 style power section with a SS rectifier, some Hammond output iron and choke, and a whole lot of 'I hope I'm not offending anyone vibe'

Thoughts?

I think that amp has .02 uF going to pins 1 and 6 of V1. You can use .01 or anything below .05 I believe. I'm looking at the schematic and layout on el34world.

I was asking about the values of the caps that are directly connected to the gain and tone pots. They are both unlabeled and are not connected to pins 1 and 6.

Where are you finding it on EL34 World?
I just visited the site and Ace Pepper does not have any schems or Layouts listed..

According to the schematic, the only cap associated with the gain pot is that .02uF coupling cap.

Thats the wrong amp and not the schematic I'm working off of.
Under the 'high gain' section of this forum there is a layout that is 'Ace Pepper's Thunder Tweak mod for a Marshall 18watt'
Different values etc...

The thundertweaker is a modified TMB. Any of the TMBs in the downloads section here would be a reference you can use for anything missing.

.01 and .005 appear to be the consensus:
