Thanks to all of you @ 18 Watt!!
I just wanted to pop on an say thanks to all of you who take the time to respond to messages!! With out this forum and the expertise of its members I would have made serious errors and become discouraged and my project would fail!! Got the circuit board and components ready to go!! On to the next hurdle!! Chassis I attached a picture it - feedback - suggestions is as always welcome -Dan

Be careful with that filter cap on the left. the ground scheme and soldering threads in my signature, and watch the soldering videos.danward wrote: ↑Wed 01/13/21 6:28 amI just wanted to pop on an say thanks to all of you who take the time to respond to messages!! Be careful with the cement type cathode resistor. The body of the 10W type is pretty heavy for the thin wires coming from those. It's a bad idea to suspend the resistor on those wires. I blew up my power transformer once because one of those wires broke off at the resistor body and sparked from touch contact. Ok, it was the rectifier dropping resistor, but still.

Yeah you can easily spread the turrets out so the resistor drops between with short lead lengths, still leave a gap underneath so air can circulate around it,those bias resistors get hot.

I think the thinner leads might be a symptom of Chinese manufacture. I've seen dozens if older radios and amplifiers where cement and other types of power resistors were successfully suspended by their leads literally for decades.
