Today I was able to buy 2 V30's MIC for 80€ for the pair. I couldn't refuse..
I don't know why people say they're not right for an 18W , because I really like them in my 18W tremolo TMB reverb. Not harsh at all.. real woody and boxy. Nice tone. In fact, next to my old G12h30 it's the best I ever heard in this amp until now. I bought them for amps to sell in the future, but I'm impressed with how they sound. I might put one in my 36W. But I put the old g12h30 in there and that's soooo nice. Sadly that won't let me crank the amp without the fear of blowing the speaker. Are there higher wattage celestions that are really similar to those old g12h30? I mean really really similar

Recorder a new soundclip with the 36W and a vintage 30. I really like the speaker, no matter what is told about it. Totally not icepicky, but rather transparant and woody.

Maybe they were broken in nicely? They're definitely more ice-picky when new. Post your video on your youtube! ;)

They were a gigging musician's 4x12 speakers. Heavy rock style...so, pretty well played. He loaded the cab with Fane speakers to get that old vintage vibe. Too bad I didn't buy the 4 of em...

Finally ordered some new EL34 Mullards. The previous I ordered never arrived and I opened up a dispute on PayPal..
Now let's see if it is even better with those...

Ok... I can't deny the improvement over the 6L6 tubes. It's got that woody vibe the 18W with EL84 's has...
Biased at 77% with the 150R CR .. stays that way for me. I tried it hotter, but then it looses the woodiness immediately.
And guys.. give the V30 a chance please! I like them a lot in those amps.
