Hi everyone,
I believe this is my first post here. I recently completed an 18w Trem build using the layout found on Valvestorm- Rev G from 2020 that credits many of the founders of this site. 1st off, the amp works perfectly so issues on that front.
I found the normal channel too dark in its original format so I modded it be similar to the Modern Classic found here.
It sounds great now- more 3D, more gain, and brighter that the stock Trem channel... to the point that I'm looking to see if anything can be done to that Trem channel now.
My understanding is that the Trem channel is only using 1/2 of the 12ax7 with the other half used for the tremolo. So maybe only so much can be done.
I'm using 56K grid stoppers, which then are in series with a 10K right on the pin 2. I really cant understand why the modified Normal channel uses a single .0047 as a coupling cap, while the Trem channel has (2) .0047 in series with R29 (470K) to ground.
Is this the mixing resistor and if so, can that be bypassed with a small cap? Mind you, the modified Normal channel is not only a little brighter, but seems more "high fidelity" - less bogged down.
Thank you!
Joe
