Superlite TMB chassis layout - will this fly?
Anyone have a picture of their Superlite I could see?
This is the way I have my board and trannies laid out so far. Getting the rectifier board to fit is tight.
Any suggestions?

Follow any standard 18W chassis for the transformer layout.

Re: Superlite TMB chassis layout - will this fly?
Thanks for the help.
There's no room for the rectifier board laid out like that.
Thought about mounting it on the side of the chassis.

Re: Superlite TMB chassis layout - will this fly?
Use a solid state rectifier, and slide the cap can over a little and there's room. Personally, I haven't been using sag resistors, and I've been running the SS rectifier PTP.
The more important part is the transformer positions/relationship.
For example:
Here's one I had previously done where I side-mounted a separate board for the SS rectifier and Zeners:
You can mess with a lot of stuff, but keep the transformer relationship/positions happy.
Thanks,
Josh

Excellent idea!I've been running the SS rectifier PTP.
I'm glad you mentioned the ptp. Solves the space issue.
The following voltage dropping resistors can remain the same value?

With a SS rec, and modern wall voltages being high, you'll want to lower your B+ before the plate resistors on the B+ line. See the link in my signature for more info on that.
Thanks,
Josh

Easy pezy. Thanks brother! With a SS rec, and modern wall voltages being high, you'll want to lower your B+ before the plate resistors on the B+ line. See the link in my signature for more info on that.
I think I might just hang the 100ohm 10w off the the 32/32 can. PTP the diodes to the switch and the big old resistor after the switch, on the can. I removed a couple components off of your original board so I do have space to put it on the board, but I'm not thrilled about redoing the cnc code.

If you're going to use a sag resistor, use a terminal strip with it. Those 10W are usually heavy resistors, get some good mechanical support if it's not going on the board.

Don't forget the ground bus wires. I usually do that before the components to keep the excess heat off of them.

I like to use surface mounted transformers for that. That way I can choose where the wires will run more easily. It looks tidy to me

In hindsight I should have done the wire before the components also.JMPGuitars wrote: ↑Fri 11/01/24 7:12 pmDon't forget the ground bus wires. I usually do that before the components to keep the excess heat off of them.
Same reason. Those turrets don't have nearly the space of regular turrets. I was basically re-soldering everything at once. They all flowed nice and I did a mean job of having a strong mechanical connection. Probably would have had a circuit without soldering.
BTW, I would never use those turrets again. PITA to get the straight AND tight. They are somewhat fragile and if you use a screw driver instead of a socket wrench, they will break. The only reason I used them is because I didn't wan't to spend the money for smaller router bits. Pretty dumb reason, I know. (but they are pretty)

Re: Superlite TMB chassis layout - will this fly?
I had the transformers from a previous build I wanted to remake into a single channel tone and volume only.
In hindsight, again, I F'd up. The tone and volume only board is going to be tiny and room would have been no concern. Should have just bought new transformers.

On the bright side, they look cool in this one build.

You're right. I totally f'd myself. Ran them on the back of the board.JMPGuitars wrote: ↑Fri 11/01/24 7:12 pmDon't forget the ground bus wires. I usually do that before the components to keep the excess heat off of them.

Nice! I'm not a fan of cloth wire in amps, but it looks like nice work.
How did you like soldering with those turrets? How does it sound?
