Raising the value of a volume pot

I put, by mistake, a 1 meg in my 18 watt when replacing the volume pot. I can't crank the amp above 1.5 in my apartment . Sounds fine low. What does this do? I figure since it's in there I might as well try it or is this a thing that just don't work. I'll just fix it or should I wait till I can crank it and see if I like it?- John

Oh yeah...it's fine.
I use 1M Vol pots in most of my 18watts...it gives it a hair more gain and just slightly darker sound.
