Mallory 150's....
These are what i used in my build, and i'm wondering if maybe they mifgt be responsible for the tone problems i have. Anyone used these and dislike em? If so, what sounded much better. I'm wondering if i should try something else. By the way.........why are they listed under "electrolytics" at the tubesandmore site?

To me, the orange drop is more clear and bright (I started with these) and the yellow mallory has more of a midrange growl (I ended up with these). It isn't dramatic but noticable. The yellows attribute are often thought as part of the Marshall crunch. I like the yellows better for the 18 watt.

I've used the yellow caps from CE Distribution that are made by Illinois and I don't detect much difference if any betwteen those and the Orange Drops. They are also much easier to work with and they are smaller which makes them much easier to fit on a tightly packed board.
I haven't tried actual Mallories yet. Anyone have a complete set they would like to sell me so I can try them in an 18W? Otherwise, I'll just order some next time I make an order.
I think it is funny that I've heard other Marshall freaks put Mallories down as vehemently as you guys defend them!
That is why I don't believe anything anymore. I try it myself and even then I distrust my observations unless they are really obvious because the placebo effect works wonders and the simple fact that alot of time can pass during part swaps, obscures your perception of the results.

Hey All,
I Just got allot of Orange drop Mallory and Can type Sprauge and Fracko caps cheap from my local surplus. I will be building my next amps using these parts. I used the NOS Sprauge and Fracko caps and the amp sounds AWSOME. You know the 18 watt tremolo stage sounds just like the best Vox AC30 you could ever find and I A/B it using the 2/12" AC30 cab.
Quick question, I put a 100pf across the tremolo switch but I still get a POP when I turn it off. You guys have that problem and when the speed on the tremolo is turned up I hear a loud "Wa wa wa" sound coming through the speaker. Any help would be great.
