Hammond tubes?

I was over at my bro's house last night and he showed me a box of tubes that he pulled from an OLD original Hammond B3. They're all labeled as Hammonds. We'll probably get around to testing them some time this week. Does anyone know who manufactured these?

A lot of Hammonds are made by Mullard. Post some pics and the codes and we could tell more about them.

Hammond bought what was cheap. Yes there are a lot of good tubes stamped with the Hammond logo. Among them are a lot of Tung Sol, GE, Sylvania, Mullard. Sometimes hard to truly ID who made them but whatever was on sale that month went into the organ.

i've used organ branded 12ax7 and i've liked them alot .don't know any thing about the manufacturers. some short plat and some long plated all have sounded good. i say use em', my two cents, mattbrew0 happy friday

I don't see Tung-Sols much in Hammonds. Leslie, yes, the 6550s are frequently Tung-Sol.

GE

Not one of Hammond's primary suppliers. Look in a Kinsman organ, GE was their primary supplier.

Sylvania

THERE YA GO! EVERYONE used Sylvania. Frequently seen in mid-60s units.

Mullard

Yeah, the 6BQ5s in earlier units are frequently Mullard. I'm not gonna tell ya what else is Mullard, enough Hammonds get butchered already!

Sometimes hard to truly ID who made them but whatever was on sale that month went into the organ.

With Hammond it's easy to tell by EIA code or country of origin. If it's British and it's in a Hammond it's Mullard. If it says "Made in Holland" it's Amperex, for certain applications Hammond specified Amperex ECC83s, there will be some plain vanilla 12AX7 in the next socket over. ECC83 was even stamped in the chassis!

Let's not forget Westinghouse, if I remember correctly EVERY "Hammond" 7591 tube I've ever seen was manufactured by Westinghouse.

And, oh yeah, there's RCAs in the early stuff. Just don't go lookin' for 12AX7s in the next B-2 you see, there ain't any in there!

If your Hammond labeled tubes are from a B-3 I'd bet there are ZERO Mullards in the lot.
