what/who are some good stores and/or people to buy tubes from?

all i know of is:
thetubestore
tubedepot
eurotubes

i know there has got to be more, and a better selection somewhere!

'round here, there is a great resource, known as "the sarge" or Sergeant Overdrive. He's a tube badass with a spotless (and impeccable, Phil) reputation. Send a shout out to him when you are ready, and he will HOOK YOU UP!

Another alternative for new productions tubes in Lord Valve. Sarge for NOS tubes.

Besides the already mentioned sources, I've had some real good service and products from Mike Kropotkin at KCA tubes. Been buying from them for years and they are good folks.

Seems like they have great selection of NOS tubes, used OS, with results of testing for every tube. I am about to order some preamps from them, cause they have best terms for international orders and accept every way of payment you can imagine.

Antique Electronic Supply out of Phoenix, AZ never did me wrong... they are professional, competitive on pricing and have a pretty good selection of new production tubes including JJs.

AES has always done well for me. Good folks, and they carry just about everything you'll ever need for your amps.

Excellent quality control, precise matching, very long life span, competitive pricing, fast shipping.

Also excellent customer contact, just give him a call and tell him what kind of sound you want. He always gives wise advice, he'll knows exactly what you need.

Go with sgtoverdrive! Send an e-mail to tkilgore@tubetramp.com and tell him what you need. You'll need to ignore the grammar and spelling but the Sarge knows his tubes. I've purchased NOS and Used tubes from Terry on four occasions and plan to do it again in the future. If you're building an 18 Watt Marshall Clone, ask him about a pair of Polam's.

If you look under dealer classifieds on 18watt.com you'll see some of his posts.

i've actually gotten a few bad tubes from antique electonic supply, they are great for everything else but i dont recommend getting tubes from them

Since they are CE Dist also, they move a ton of product and aren't as end-user focused as a Lord Valve or Sarge. Just my 2p worth.

I don't buy many. I just hold two fingers on each hand up against my temples and visualize all the good little tubes comin' to me... AND THEY DO! Bet you're jealous! Nyah, nyah!!

I'm not kiddin', either. This week's stash: I actually paid two bucks for a GE 5751... but I got a GE 12AX7 for free. Then I got a bunch of Mullard 12AX7s, maybe half a dozen of 'em fer NUTHIN! Got a pair of Amperex EL84s FREE! Got a mismatched pair of ECL86s free.

Then I got a shoebox full of parts, the usual Cinch 9 pin mini sockets, chicken head knobs, 1/4" jacks, plus a couple amps worth of vintage iron.

It's a matter of bein' in the right place at the right time. Took me years to figure that out.
