I'm starting an amp business, Durusky Amplifiers

Post by danelectro »

Hey guys,

I'm creating this thread to let you all know that im going to start a small business building amps. I feel i owe you guys a great deal of thanks for all your information and help. While my electronics knowledge certainly didnt start here, it did mature greatly with your help over the past couple years (since the yahoo days at least).

I recently graduated w/ a EE degree and i'm not ready for a 'career' yet. I want to spend a few years with my band, making music, and doing what i love best, building things. My father also retired this year so we decided to go into business together doing something we both enjoyed while we had some time. He owns a woodshop and helps me with the cabs and i build the amps.

I guess i dont want you guys to think im taking advantage of all your help and exploiting it for money. I bow to your expertise and respect my amp building elders liek Graydon, Paul Ruby, etc. I know a few boutique shop owners in town who will help me move some amps. my target is primarily local. As a matter of ethics i point all ppl who are intersted in 18watters to this forum. I feel they should have the same chance/opportunity i had. If they dont want to build one (honestly, most ppl ive encountered dont. cray :) ) then id be happy to build them one. I dont plan to get rich or anything, i just want a few years to take a risk and do what i want before i jump on the 9-5 for 30 years.

Thanks a lot,
Dan

Good luck and more power to you my man. The more people building and selling good sounding amps means that there will be less crap guitar tones on the radio and in the clubs.

Where are you located? In what cities do you expect to sell your amps initially?
