Minimum pot spacing req. for 18 watt?

I just built a 36 watt trem using a crate chassis and they are pretty much touching each other, with no ill effects.

When I turned it on, it was so quite that I thought it didn't work.. It really rocks hard, it even makes me sound like a rock god!

I've got mine spaced at 1 1/4 inches center to center. There's just enough room to get to each control no matter what size fingers you have!

it really depends on the knobs...too close and it just doesn't look right. too far isn't right either. that being said, i like to get them close to the leads on the board.

Minimum spacing = Two times the pot radius. ;^)

Excellent point! I once had an amp that I drilled for pots and they fit perfect until I put the chicken head knobs on - I would have to turn one knob out of the way to turn the other.. Ended up having to switch knob types.

Well, after 24 years in electronics, if there is a minimum space requirements for non-HV (5KV+) pots, no one sent me the memo

One thing did come to mind though, knob size. Wouln't be good if you had say, mini-Alps pots giving a 1/2" centre-to-centre spacing if you had 1-1/2" knobs
