Help! Looking for original AC30 Layout
Hi Guys,
Can anyone point me to an original AC30 layout? Preferably a top boost.
I have the Hoffman layout but it doesn't have the trem and is not original anyway.
Thanks
Greg

Greg,
check this:
http://vintageamps.com/PlexiPalaceUBBcg ... 279#000000
The layout I´ve posted was taken from a ´63 non TB AC30/6.
The TB layout isn´t that much different.

IIRC, the TB components are all added to the power transformer end of the circuit boards - kindly note that both boards are slightly longer than in a non-TB unit (IIRC, the TB upper board is longer than the lower board(?), and they extend towards the power transformer.
The TB tube is the farthest to the right, seen from the bottom, and its plate components are all on the upper board, and its cathode components are all on the lower board. IIRC, the layout keeps the non-TB components in their original places, and just adds the new ones to the right side of the board. I think I have reasonably large gut pictures of both JMI non-TB and TB versions somewhere.
Someone named SteveG did these:
http://www.it.mah.se/amps/vox/ac30_layout_left.jpg
http://www.it.mah.se/amps/vox/ac30_layout_right.jpg
Edit: After checking quickly, it seems I was both right and wrong:
a) it is only the top board that is longer, I think 6 tags longer that the non-TB.
b) The lower board has no extra components on the far right, AFAICS.
Check for yourselves:

http://www.it.mah.se/NONTB.jpg
And, BTW, Adrian, hate to say this, but your drawing still has an error - I can´t find the wires from the PI output to the power amp dept (lower board, big caps, green and white (mostly)wire from connection point at low end of board, the wires go thru the rubber grommet in the chassis.
Or is it me?
Mail me if you need the pics/more pics.

Yep, you´re right. Thought it´s obvious that they go to the .15 PI coupling caps...Ballz wrote: And, BTW, Adrian, hate to say this, but your drawing still has an error - I can´t find the wires from the PI output to the power amp dept (lower board, big caps, green and white (mostly)wire from connection point at low end of board, the wires go thru the rubber grommet in the chassis.Or is it me?

Btw, most of the TB components are connected directly to the pots and tube socket. There are just some very few parts on the board.
Greg,
good luck with the project! AC30´s rule

Hello,
Cool! There's already a layout. Well, I'll refer to the old board to compare/verify.
On another note, there's one on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... eName=WDVW
Chassis + board..pretty complete except for some parts. Dont know the guy, but i think he's sold quite some brit amps, altho I think he;s american.
Thanks!
nik

Greg,
OMG
well, it´s only money, isn´t it?
Throw in some extra dough and get my near mint ´71 AC30 w/ rectifier tube.
(I saw a similar one but in much worse condition go for over $2k... This one will be less
Need a 70´s Hiwatt??
And a THD 4x10?
Or a handbuilt ´59 Bassman clone?
How ´bout a ´56 White Falcon, bro?
More guts needed?
Adrian
