I want to build the 18watt in a head style chassis
Any suggestions for chassis size? 16x8?
also, regarding trannies for this, i've read here that a lot of guys like the heyboers, which is more crucial to tone the OT or PT or both? in other words , if i can save some $$ and sub a hammond for either that would be nice... but i'd rather have the best tone possible so if both are crucial to tone, then heyboers it is!!!
thx!

For the chassis, are you going to build the full 2-channel circuit?
Assuming you're comparing PT's with the same HT voltage & current, the tonal difference between them would be negligible or non-existent. The PT should only matter if it makes a significant difference in B+ and sag.
In other words, the output tranny has much more effect on tone.
The Hammond 1608 sounds really good. I haven't trying the Heyboer OT yet, but I will.

18w head dimensions - one example
Attached is a pic of an in-progress 18w head and 4x10" cab, the former of which of course, ever existed. Based on a 20x6x2" chassis (don't remember where I got those dimensions but I think it was here at 18watt.com), the head cabinet is 23.375w x 9.125h x 7.125d. The width was based on Marshall's 20 watt head, with added spacing for the extra controls on the 18watt. The depth was based on the chassis, leaving the correct amount of spacing for a back panel. I can't remember where I got the height, but it might be from a smallbox 50w. My goal for this build was to create a proportionally "correct" mini half stack.

The drawing of the cabinet, such as it is, is contained in the slant cab plans already posted on the site. I don't have all the dimensions for the 4x10 listed yet as I am in the process of building it (and re-making the baffle as I didn't like the speaker spacing the first time I made it), but I will go back and revise the PDF as soon as it's done. I can also draw up plans for the head cabinet when its finished. In the meantime, I'm happy to provide dimensions.

Keep me posted on your pdf updates. Also shoul we post that tutorial for the slant cab? You can send me the pictures full size. I already made an album for the slant cab tutorial.
or if you preffer, you can upload the pictures youself and add the captions.
Thanks a lot for doing all this and providing all that yummy stuff!!!
