Philips date code - Mullard 6V6 ???

I just picked up a Philipps Miniwatt EZ81 which I am trying to decipher the date code B6A5 - could this be a Mullard? B = Blackburn

Also my local tube guy here has some smoked glass 6V6GTs... he says they are Mullards...did Mullard make a 6V6 and if so are these worth picking up?

Yep, it probably is.

B=Blackburn plant
6 =1966
A =Month, (Jan in this case)
and I think (5) is the batch number.

As for 6V6, Philips and Visseaux made some on that side of the pond but I don't think I've ever seen a Mullard one...

I have seen Mullard badged (old shield) 6V6's but I'm not sure if they were made by Mullard or just relabeled. Not many 6V6's over here in the 60's which is a shame.

Come to find out they're not Mullards but RCA smoked glass - the guy wants $40 each...are they worth it?

NOS 6V6s are plentiful and usually much cheaper than $40each.

You can get some REALLY killer NOS for that price. Is this person reputable?

That's what I thought...but I do have to factor in the shipping aspect to Indonesia. I think the guy is ok - I just bought an EZ81 off him, which seems to be Mullard and its working out great.

If the are real RCA smoked glass, then $80 for a reasonably matched pair is worth it. I say reasonable in that a slight mismatch is actually a good thing in my mind.

Just been looking thru' my stash and found a couple of Mullard labelled 6v6's. On comparing to others, I'd say that they were actually made by Sylvania, which is kinda suprising to me, as both the Phillips 'v6's I've got look to be RCA.

I have a 6V6GT labelled Phillips Miniwatt,dark glass, no marks but I guess it´s just like the Mulalrds yu´re talking about here because Mullar/Philliups connection,it´s a very odd tube.It´s a shame I don´t have another one similar to make a matched pair to put on my 5e3 clone...
