I was talking to a friend who was really interested in building a small SE 6V6 JCM800, as he wants some low wattage amp for his room that will sound just like that Marshall. Is it possible to make such an amp with 3 12ax7 and a 6V6? I know it is possible in a push pull combination, but have never seen a SE JCM800 version.
How would in that case power amp section look like - basic let's say 5F2 preamp with maybe a bit colder bias as the preamp is high gained already, just with high filtering? Or is it a bit stupid to try to make such a thing- if it is, what would be similar sounding 6V6 amp with a gain control? maybe a P1eXtreme?
