30w SE OT

Post by jp3 »

I was looking at the THD bivalve SE 30w amp and was wondering whether one could connect 2x125ese OT's to handle 30w output.I live in South-Africa, and the only hammond SE OT's available here are the 125ese, i mean ONLY :(

does anybody know if and how to connect two ot's. i only have one speaker to connect to so no stereo output.can you run one OT per output tube, then connect the secondries to create one speaker output?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

My first thought would be, I can't see any reason why one could not do this. Putting two power transformers in parallel would allow the combination to handle double the current. Just match up the colors on both transformers ; brown to brown, black to black, ect.

Trannies in paralell

That is exactly what Silvertone did in some of its amps. They wouldn't buy bigger iron, so they just ran two together.

I'm pretty sure the initial Marshall 100 watt models had two OT's. Metroamp's forum might have some info on how it was done there.
