36w vs AC30

Anybody have both a 36w as well as a Vox AC30?

How do they compare? Is one meaner, brighter, darker, clearer than the other? Good descriptions/comparisons would be nice

I've played both and am building a 36W TMB.

The 36W has that fat mid chunk that Marshalls have and the AC30 is well, voxy.

That probably doesn't help much though, and I haven't played the EF86 36W.

An AC30 will tend to stay clean and jangly longer than a regular 36W. And when the 36W breaks up it will give you the classic Marshall growl.

I compared my Ceriatone EF86 36er to an old AC30.
The Vox stays cleaner and needs to be really LOUD for great singing Leadtones.
The Normal Channel of my 36er sounds in between a 18Watt Marshall and a 50W Plexi.
Classic Marshall Growl and much more of punch and balls.
The EF86 is a combination of the Marshall Sound and an old AC15 Tone.
Extremely three dimensional, silky heights, sweet singing Leads.
One of the best Leadsounds i ever had.
It´s directly comparable to a Dr.Z Stangray or Presescription ES.

Put a PPI Master volume in the 36 watt and you can probably get a little of the way to those loud Voxy tones.
