resistor to drop 54 volts

Post by paisley_tele »

trying to bypass the choke . the choke connects the 2 postive lugs on a 50/50uf cap can. at the 5u4gb it reads 347v and then runs to the standby then to the th 1st lug on the can . the at the 2nd lig the cap can read 294v. can u put a 10watt resistor between the to lugs and try no choke. what size would work

Why do you want to do that? The choke gives better filtering and less voltage drop. :?

P.S. Aw, I'll try to be a little more helpful. If you look around online, some dealers sell 5K/2W potentiometers. I'd buy one of those, wire it in place of the choke, and play around with it until you get the desired drop. Then, measure the resistance across the pot in that setting, and buy a power resistor with a reasonably close value. Good luck.
