We can help you, but it wouldn't be with those particular tubes. The amps we do here all derive the Marshall 18W design, so they're pretty much 12AX7s and EL84s, with EF86s or 6V6s sometimes thrown in for variation. The 36W schematics we have are in the 36W folder in the Downloads section. Other variations are certainly possible, but you would be straying off the beaten path, which isn't great if you're new to amp building.

That valve is the same as an ECC83, except for the heater connection (it needs another 40mA heater current too, which shouldn't be a big deal). All you need to do is wire the heaters up to pins 4 and 5 NOT pin 9. You can ground pin 9, or leave it unconnected, whatever. In all other respects the rest of the amp is unchanged.

It seems that Sovtek's current production 12AX7WA are modified 6N2P-EV.

C'mon, just tell us it sounds like poo and we can move on! I have no personal experience, so I can't say. Inquiring minds want opinions, not facts!

It's been a long time since i heard one in one of my amps, so can't really tell.
I'd probably say : not a really interesting tube, sonically, in a simple amp.
Probably best to use in modern high gain "factory".

Found a little review : http://thetubestore.com/12ax7review.html#sovtek1

I didn't test the real 6N2P (but i will use 6N3P and 6N1P)

I have been seeing a lot of Russian tubes on the bay I have been wondering how they would translate to an American design

They're the same valves. Only the heater arrangement differs, which is hardly important. They're only Russian, not an alien species!

Well a lot of weekend amp builders from where I come from (Serbia) use these 6N2P cause they are easy available and cheap, and with great results. Try finding 6N2P-EV that is supposed to be a millitary version of this valve, with much less hum and microphonics. Conect one heater lead to pin4 the other to pin5 and as said, have pin9 either grounded or left empty and off you go.
(in russian it looks like this :) 6Н2П and for the millitary version 6Н2П-ЕВ)

hook up your heaters on a switch like this- and you can go between 12__7s and 6N2Ps
