2x12 with G12M & G12H30???

Post by livewireblanco »

Will the G12M be too overpowered by the G12H30 to really make much difference? I have an Avatar closed back 2x12 with their Hellatone 30s in it, but damn it's loud and I never really get to crank much of anything on it. Would swapping out one of them give me a decrease in volume and a little sweeter sound? I'm trying to blend the mids of the G12M and the bottom of the G12H30.

I've had both types running side by side in seperate cabs.

You will sweeten up the sound a tad, and it think the different efficiancies will give you more 3-dimensionality.
But, the overall combination will only be marginally quieter and wont solve your volume problem.

Probably better off to put a G12M30 into a 1 x 12" cab and use this for your lower volume stuff.

They can work together. The frequencies that one speaker doesn't fill, will be filled by the other. I imagine a "fuller" sound. There are actually some amp makers who use this combo.

Don´t ask me what I think of you. I might not give the answers you want me to.
