Removing a glued on valance?

Post by guitarmike2107 »

I have to replace some grill cloth on a amp with a valance fitted, the valance is glued on and needs to come off to replace the grill cloth,

Anybody got any ideas on how to remove a glued on valance, I can remake the valance board but would like to try and keep the original baffle board.

Thanks

Mike

Thanks Anthony

I think I might be able to get a little warm water between the two panels so I though I could try that first and see if they fall apart, this one has been glued with the tolex trapped between the joint so there must be gaps in there and probably wont be a strong join.. Though this could lead me to scrapping the whole panel

If that doesn’t work..I guess I will get my chisels out then.

And if it all goes tits up I can just make another one easy enough. :D

For anybody who come back to this looking for a solution , while pulling out my chisels I noticed I had a stiff wallpaper scraper, using this the valance came off very easily and hasnt damaged the valance or the baffle board.

thanks for the original suggestion.
