36w marwatt complete!

Post by lectricman »

hey gang i just finished this guy up last night and i actually get to keep it! its a 36w based on the marwatt amp. the marwatt uses a 5751 tube and a 12au7 and one 12ax7 for preamp tubes. i am a known gain maniac so i used three 12ax7s but not without a price. i had to juggle a couple values in the tonestack to get it sounding
right but now shes a beauty! i used a pt and ot from he who cannot be named, a blank chassis bought off of ebay meant for 18w combos. made a turrettboard from hoffmans turretts and some fiberglass board i got for free from work(scraps).and of course i built the headbox and tolexed myself using up my scrap tolex, grill cloth and piping. this thing is really cool its not as loud as a 50w but still plenty to keep up with a drummer, has gain galore and the tmb channel has an authoritative roar! i think im gonna record some clips this weekend. meanwhile some photos.

(Can't say the red is my color... guess I like the darker colors: Green, Black, etc. best)

This amp does look sharp though. Can't wait to hear it.

that is a nice job, how far do you have to turn it up to stay with the drummer?
