Types of Caps

Post by G_S »

Newb to building by hand. Which type of capacitors should I use in which parts of the amp? Obviously I need to use electrolytic for the filter and bias circuits, but what about the tone stack? Where should my Sprague Orange Drop caps be used? Are Sprague Atoms electrolytics? What about coupling caps? Thanks.

"""Richmond, Ky USA"" isn't that close to Lexington Ky. ? I'm in Ashland Ky.

Anyway.. For the caps, the can type people have used the F&T and JJ caps..and Atoms on the board. As for coupling caps, some use the orange drops, alot have used the mallory 150, I think we've seen the gamit of types used for this amp so far. Even the originals, some used disc caps.
As for smaller value caps as the 470pf a disc cap or silver mica cap will work.
Trem caps the .01 can be disc or other types as long as they are .01
I like to use a higher voltage rating when useing the disc caps.
