Ceriatone 36W EF86 tone switch wiring?

Post by George60 »

I am assembling my Ceriatone 36W EF86 kit. This is my first tube amplifer kit and I have never worked off of a layout only. The only hang up I have is with the EF86 channel tone switch. It is not obvious to me how it is wired.

Attached is a schematic I drew of what I think the circuit appears to be. If my drawing is correct, then I do not understand what the 5M1 resistors do. This project has two purposes. I would like to have an decent amp for gigs that does not weigh as much as my Mesa Boogie Mark III combo and I am trying to learn a little about vacuum tube audio amps.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

The 5.1M resistors will prevent switch pop noises. Using a make before break switch will eliminate the need for those resistors.
