Setup fees are B.S. A good price is about $20 per panel for a panel with plenty going on. I think Carey might still be doing custom panels, just not custom chassis. I'll check eventually after I hear from him again. He's gotten slow in communication since he got too popular.lavrgs wrote: ↑Wed 09/16/20 1:15 pmIs this both chassis and faceplate? I'm currently looking at Mojotone blanks for $45 as a pretty good deal. Since I have punches can machine them it's a no-brainer. I had a local supplier quote $175 for a 5E3 style and walked. What's a decent price for faceplates? I had one made for my 5E3 and it was pricey but maybe for higher volume it would go down. http://www.precisiondesignin.com/control-panels.php - I found her one one of the amp sites...She did and excellent job her listed prices are about $30/panel + setup. She does have some Marshall style panels in her gallery.

I've done some panel designs on this, but haven't ordered any yet, slightly on the expensive side... https://www.frontpanelexpress.com/

They're very expensive. More than double what I was paying for anything good.crgfrench wrote: ↑Wed 09/16/20 1:29 pmI've done some panel designs on this, but haven't ordered any yet, slightly on the expensive side... https://www.frontpanelexpress.com/
Though I did email that guy you mentioned in Canada.

Re: Chassis and Panels for 18W Projects
Tube Town is pretty good for custom plates.
I designed mine in powerpoint, copy-pasted them in an open source vector graphics editor, saved to pdf and voila! Arrived 2 weeks later
On the other hand, I am looking for someone to build 2 custom chassis for me (Fender slanted style). Any recommendations welcome please.
So far not much luck on my side but I have trouble believing there isn’t a person in the world able to do that for a reasonable cost

Re: Chassis and Panels for 18W Projects
€31 + shipping
I though the end result was really good (I will post pics of my 18W build soon)
I designed the faceplate in powerpoint, copy-pasted the shapes directly into inkscape and saved as a pdf - easy

Try Terry at Seaside MusicJMPGuitars wrote: ↑Tue 09/15/20 7:15 pmWell, I don't think this is going to happen until I find a new supplier. I heard from Carey today that he's gotten busier than he can handle, so he won't be doing the custom stuff anymore.

Re: Chassis and Panels for 18W Projects
Any ideas of people able to create custom chassis?
There are a bunch of off the shelf, undrilled chassis available so mainly a matter of cutting holes...
thanks

Good call, I've emailed the guy on reverb
Worst case I'll produce a simple CAD file for Tube-Town to produce
Cheers

Re: Chassis and Panels for 18W Projects
I finally heard back from Seaside in Canada. They're not useful. He can only drill the big cutouts, nothing else.
Juicy said he's going to be doing the custom chassis work again eventually, but he needs to create new guidelines for design submission. We'll see how long that takes.

It might be worth calling Hammond -- they offer custom chassis services.

Josh, one other idea for the chassis fab, try Estes, that's who Weber uses.

Re: Chassis and Panels for 18W Projects
A friend works at a machine shop with sheet metal capability and mentioned they were making chassis today. I will get some basic info on what those cost but was curiousabout what kind of pricing are you looking for?
I had them quote a single chassis and it was not gonna fly ...but higher volumes mean cheaper piece parts...
If you want me to investigate I would want an idea of the price target and how many chassis you want to buy/quote
