Tremolo footswitch jack wiring

Post by PharmRock »

Hello everyone,
First, thanks to the admins for this awesome site, especially the resources in the downloads section. I've been a forum member for a number of years, but first post here (I think) on 18watt. I frequented the sewatt forum back in my "Valve Junior" days.

Anyways, to my question:

I am building the EF86 modern classic. I have a Switchcraft 12A switched 1/4 jack I would like to use for the tremolo footswitch. If I jumper the switch to the sleeve, and then run the sleeve to ground, and the tip to pin 7 on the tremolo tube (V2)/oscillator circuit, then when the footswitch is NOT inserted the tremolo would be off, correct? One thing I recall with the standard 1974 circuit I had is that the tremolo was always on unless the footswitch plug was inserted.

Thanks for the help!

Correct. It's exactly the same as what you do when you engage a footswitch
I once added a mini toggle switch to use the amp with and without footswitch, which also turned the trem on and off.
