Mine's done- first one!

Post by gtrmac »

Well I'm very happy with the results. The amp is nice and quiet for one thing. My Tweed Deluxe Clone is pretty noisy so this came as a surprise and a pleasant one too. Even my Fender 'Custom' Vibrolux Reverb hums quite a lot in my house so I'm grateful that the 18 is like this. It will certainly be the one I use for recording anyway.

So thanks to everyone that made the project possibel for me:
Graydon Stuckey -chassis and trannies
Paul Ruby -turret board
Gabi -this website and all the resources here (and I'm glad i had everything before he went on vacation!
Sean Phinney -for the beautiful very Red cabinet

-And everyone who uploaded pictures and schematics etc. which I pored over endlessly until my wife almost went nuts. Hey- even she likes the amp now that it's done. She says it looks like a 'Louis Vuitton Marshall'![/i]

Gadzooks, man: Louis Vuitton Marshall - what a superb idea. :) No really, I mean it - how much more boutique could you get? Now where do I get the material? (I'm serious here - my WEM 18Wer will eventually get a cosmetic makeover and I'd quite like to go daft!)

PS: Glad your amp worked out, too ;)

great to hear everything is working. Sometimes it seems some have problems, and some work fine first try. I always though the amps were quiet running too. And one thing you did that i think helps some in building, you did your homework, looked over and over all the layouts and wireing. It helps understand when its time to build. Unlike some of us that have been doing this for quite a while now,we don't even need the schematic or layout to build one of these amps..lol But we've been looking at it for over a couple years now. Theres been alot of amps born since we started,i'd say between here some of the places that offer clone amps, there are probably more clone amps now that "real"ones..
