New Production Tung Sol ??

I have 2 questions really.

1. Has anybody tried any of these new Tung sol tubes, namely the 12a's. I was also thinking of giving their KT66's a test drive in my JTM 45 RI.

... and

2. Does anyone have any experience ordering tubes from 'The Tube Depot'? I'd be appreciative as to one's thoughts, with respect to the quality of their product. How well they Match, ever recieved noisy microphonic tubes, etc.

I'd really appeciate some imput.

Those new Tung Sol's do look tempting. Tung Sol made some great tubes back in the day right here in good 'ol NJ. They have long since gone out of business. Apparently, New Sensor acquired the Tung Sol and Mullard names and are manufacturing them in the same Russian facility that makes SED and Sovtek tubes. I'm not sure how faithful these are to the original's, but they do look cool. I want to get a pair myself for a JTM45 build coming up. Haven't tried them yet though.

I can say that Tube Depot is a great place to deal with. They ship fast, prices are excellent, and pack everything well too. On my first order they even called me to make sure I was happy with their products and service!! How odd is that??? Don't hesitate to buy from them.

I was just checking out their site. The prices are in fact quite reasonable. Having never dealt with them, I figured I'd ask. As far as the Tung sol 12a's, TQR had very good things to say about them. So, I figured I give them a shot. I guess only time will tell...and while scoping aroung in the Depot's site I noticed they also have a KT66 available.

I tested the KT66 and 12AX7. Nice tubes but they can't hold up with the originals. I hope JJ will take the KT66 in production they do a good job on every tube and have tons of experience.

Thanks Richard, you are right. SED is the old Svetlana manufacturer based in St. Petersburg, Russia. But apparently, the new Svetlana's are made at the Reflektor plant which is owned by New Sensor. Go figure.
