Has anybody tried using a 6N2P-EV? It looks like the heater would have to be rewired, but it is fairly close to 12AX7. Also, what would you do with the screen, pin 9? I’ve seen the tubes really cheap, but was wandering if it is worth the effort to try and use one. Any thoughts? I've attached a data sheet.

I have a heap of these waiting for a great experiment - since I'm doing other things as well, this looks like coming out next January. Three points - the valve has ECC83 characteristics, but is like a boned-up ECC85 - pin-out is the same - and the heaters are very juicy - will need more than usual support to get the best out of it. EV is USSR military designation, so they should be bulletproof in operation. Screen - don't connect - wire as if it doesn't exist - just rewire the heaters. If you are buying from Mr Welsh in Wales, that is a disguise for Mr Welchspruk in the Ukraine, and the thermionic devices will definitely arrive after a delay of about 3 weeks. Reliable, yes, rapid - no.
