Layout question: input jacks

I brought my new 36wTMB head to rehearsal last night - it's fantastic, so far. I have a Framptone switcher, and found myself using the 36 more often than my '59 Concert, even for clean parts. Used the tele last night, next time I'll try the Epi Riviera (semi-hollow w/ HB's) - really looking forward to hearing how she'll feed back.

So far, so good. I figured out the on/off orientation on the switches, though the on and standby now need to swapped, no problem.

Question I moved the 1m resistor on the layout from the top jack to the bottom (keep in mind this is vice versa when you flip over the chassis and bolt it into the head cab). So the amp works when I plug the guitar into the lo jack, without the 1m resistor, but doesn't in the hi. Is there anything funky with the jack layout? Or, is this by design, and you need some really high gain input to overcome the resitor?

It should work with any guitar, I would check for a bad soldier joint. I had a similar problem on TMB build and it turned out that I didn’t get all the leads soldiered to the lug.

Good thought. However, I did check all the joints thoroughly with an ohm meter.

And, both the TMB channel and normal channel behave the same, leading me to think that it's correct for super high gain, or the layout is wrong.

This probably is confusing.. since its a head version.. the 1M should be on the bottom as you put it. So when the amp is turned rightside up,or as it would be in the cab,the high input would be on the top.

You can look at this pic of what Mark has,wire it like this..and it should work.

Sorry, I don't have pics. But, with the exception of moving the resistor to the lower jack, I followed the layout exactly.

Richie, thanks for the advice to match Mark's photo here. I looked at it: no doubt, it's different than the layout. Please have a look at both - can you confirm I should wire it like Mark's photo?

Yes it should do the trick.. I think the layout that was drawn,tries to depict what it looks like if the faceplate was imaginary/seethrough type thing.

I only posted the layout a while back temporary,since i knew a few things needed changed..and it was to help some get started on there 36..but since its been copied,and reposted,it has some things that need to be changed or corrected. But it was something so people could see how to do the layout etc.. But that was one reason i took it down.. the trasnformer wiring may look different too,since the heyboer were not ,through the chassis mount and made it look a little different.

I am waiting on some parts for another 36 that i have about finished. I'll try to take some pics of it when its done.
