Another 36 watter is Alive.

Just finishing up a few things on this amp,but it turned out very nice.
It should be all done this weekend. Bud, from American Minor stopped by,and played it for quite sometime,trying Strats and LP. Very Hendrixy sounding amp. The band is playing Chicago Metro club tomorrow night,and he should have it in time for the festival in Milwaukee.

i built a 36 watter from your layout, with the heyboer transformers, metal films, and sozo's. everyone who plays hears it is blown away by how fantastic it sounds. many, including me, think it is the best sounding amp they have ever played. thanks for posting that layout.

Ritchie, could you tell me where that layout is? I didn't see it in the downloads section. If it is not there, could you e-mail it to me? American Minor was great in Boston. Had a chance to talk to Bud for a while. He really loves the amps you did.

The layout i put in my gallery,and which is the same one you see above. It had a few mistakes,and confused some people about the power supply wiring. I just put it up temporary so people building the 36 watter could see how it was. So i took it out.
I also like to use the modded 5E3 channel for the normal channel. And make a few changes in values in the amp. Add the .1uf across the 1.5k resistor in the feedback section. And add the .68uf across the cathode cap of V2 pin 3.
Yeah the 36 watters are really great sounding amps. I think they may get overlooked quite a bit.

That's probably true from an ease of use standpoint. Having said that, I'm about to play out for the second time tomorrow night with my new 36W tmb head, my new fav. I have to say it was well, well worth the puzzling out process. For those contemplating this, if you read the threads with the questions and responses, all the information is there. Richie's right: the minor issues with the schematic are: (1) figuring out the PT wiring (2) resolving the reversed / upside down switches (3) orienting the negative feedback switch and (4) the input jacks. That's it.

Go for it, the amp kicks ass.

Yes.. i do need to try and get the things corrected..and drawn up with the Heyboers.. I really like the new OT better. The Trex or first amp is just using the Heyboer AC 30 trayy.. this new trannys..and the one that a few others have now in there builds..is pretty much a double sized 18. So it keep the 18 tone..just 36 watt OT.. I know Bud loved the Trex,and still does..but he liked this amp much more. But there are a few differences between the 2 in the circuit..and i believe i can make the Trex more like this newest build.

Niks chassis faceplate also has a place for a MV..and you could use a pre or post MV for this..whatever someone likes. I really like the color of Niks faceplates too.. I know these amps have many options of tones you can get out of it,by useing the feedback switch..channels..and MV.

I'll also be building another 18 version of this amp..same as the red amp in my gallery that was built for the Jive records A&R man.
