going color blind or something 820 ohms 1800 ohms

Post by SteveinTempe »

Have you ever done this?
I have bunches of old school carbon comps
I mixed up my 820's and 1800's
I just built an 18watt circuit and sure enough I had two 1800
ohm resistors in there!

I was so happy to find this "mistake"
actually it sounds pretty good but the distortion
is out of control some may want to try this as a mod
?
I think it screwed up the PI more than the preamp
the distortion starts to wash out and scream too much gain

The happy kit builders should not have to worry about this one..

oops

Hey Steve,

Hehe..man, I know what you mean.

But the newer Xicons are also kinda hard to tell color, they're not distinct (maybe I'm color blind too).

Sounds good? Well now we know how to get that over the top distortion.

Oh yeah!

Mee too... Watch for Xicon's 100k not to be mixed up with 1M (!)

Their "yellow" on the 100k looks totally green to me!
