Little wing - effect ?

Post by pedro »

Is it a Univibe on Little wing Rhythm guitar ?
I want that effect - any modern pedals good for this other than choruses - I havent found one that sounds that way.

I play the song with an MXR Phaser set to about 10 o'clock the straight into my 18 watter. Sounds "dead on" to me!

Hi,

I think it was a Leslie rotating speaker.

Has anybody here tried a Leslie with an 18W?

I dont have a Leslie, nor do i know if one exists here.

(Hey Gabi, I'm in! Thanks for your help.)

I remember reading that this "Leslie" was not a Leslie. Apparently Jimi's gadget tech made some sort of crude rig that had a rotating speaker. It does sound nice right when he gets back to G...

I have a Leslie Model 25. It has it's own power amp. I will try to hook it up next week and record a sound clip then.

And how to destroy its value at the same time. I have one of these and after seeing what they go for on eBay the last thing I would do is modify it.

Whether that really matters to you depends whether you're primarily a collector or a guitarist! Personally, I would use one of the current production pedals (you will see the instructions refer to a Russian-made one), as I probably couldn't afford an original vintage model in the first place...

I have done this mod to a not so collectable small stone. While interesting, it sounds nothing like a Univibe - not even remotely close.

Gives lots of options to my phase shifter, but even my old yellow MXR stereo chorus sounds closer to the 'vibe than the modded small stone...
