They need more heater current than most alternatives - that's why they don't compare well in some tests.

A while ago I've buyed 8 pcs. of these, but it's been hard to measure out a usable duet. I've purchased the 6p14p ev, but they've had huge differences in its plate current.

I have several sets of them and love them. They are the standard tube in my Lightning clone. Very creamy and refined tone. Just be sure to get the EB or EV military designation when you buy them and get them in matched sets. Very nice tube.
