I'm in the tweaking stages of mine, but it's playable. It's very quiet (very low hiss, hum, etc) and has absolutley fantastic tone, response, dynamics, etc. It is hands down the best amp I have played by a long shot, and I still have a few things to work out! I have not played a lot of amps. They include the following Fender Champ 25, Matchless clone (sort-of a clone with 12AX7s & EL84s), the AX84 (from the related web site) , Marshall 18watt reissue (actual Marshall), JCM 800, and a Fender Super Reverb. This 36 watt is the only amp I have built myself. A friend built the AX84 and Matchless clone. I'm also somewhat new to amp building.
I've only been playing Guitar for about a year. I think that says a lot for the 36 because comparisons I make are not as small as they would be if I had more experience, and I'm not set in my ways with guitars, amps, etc (hopefully I'll never be).
Richie, Mark, and everyone else here who contributed to this amp - You have done an outstanding job. This amp is not good just because it can stip paint off the walls with a 4X12 cab. It's tone and playability is fabulous! It's not just an amp. It is a musical instrument unto itself.
