The 'anorak' thing comes from the fact that nerds - your Star Trek convention type, etc - wear the most unfashionable clothes; the anorak being the nerdiest garment of the lot.
Most important component for the "18 watt" sound?

Yeah, as a business you can't use another's trademarks, so I was thinking about something broadly similar in layout and style. Maybe "GDS" and "Made in U.S.A." with some similar imp character for the outer label with "GRAYDON" MAINS TRANS for the inner label.

You shouldn't worry, just don't stick your hand back up in the amp..
I'm sure graydon will have some EE way of covering those.
Even a dab of silicone..
The real amps used them. I'm sure one could use a covered spade terminal..but i hate those things..And I like the hard wired idea..although i'm sure it wouldn't pass the nowdays UL requirements..
I think since most of the old amps were wired to one setting..And used the speakers in the combo cab,you didn't need to reach back and change nothing.
Even though it doesn't sound like the safest way to use this OT..I still like it..lol

There is an easy solution..
if the tranny comes with leads as shown on the pic, you can stick them through the chassis and have fun with the pegboard look.
Those who die for originality can connect the leads to the board.
I do appreciate the original look. Just thought to share my thoughts about a possible safety issue of the original construction.
Just another stupid idea:
How about a safety category in the downloads or elsewhere? I think many of us DIY amp builders might not be really familiar with the UL requirements.

Adrian...
I have a link in the Web Links section pointing to a site that explains the implications.
I remember someone post it in the forums:

Hi Gabi,
Thanks!
Just looked what it is... appears to deal mainly with lethal current levels.
Actually, I had something about the rules how to or how not to build electrical equipment to meet UL requirements. I just know that they differ somewhat from the European stuff. I dealt with the EU stuff some time ago, and I can just tell that the papers highly require interpretation to get to the "how to".
Well, maybe someone has a link that we could add there?
