The first transformers i used were a standup type for a AC 30.. which were i believe a 280-0-280
I had heyboer bump up the PT to be the same as what would be in an 18
its a 290-0-290 transformer. The OT was made or built in the style of the 18 watter as in how its made etc..its just 4k, for 4xEL84s.. and has end bells etc.. It was bumped up to 35 watt OT.

Either of the transformers will work in this amp. I have used a few sets of these. All with a GZ34.. and no problems. A person could use the standup set for the AC30 if they wanted to.

You could use the 5V4GA and drop some voltage if you wanted to. It would still have plenty of voltage for the amp.

I might try that. According to specs that should drop the voltage slightly below what I am seeing now with the 5U4GB that I am currenlty using. (The 5V4GA would drop about -44 volts at 225 mA)

I got the Heyboers. I used the part numbers listed in other threads, most likely the ones you had them bump up. I wonder why my PT is supplying 303-0-303 instead of 290-0-290. I am getting 121.2 volts AC out of the wall, not 110 or 115. (The power here is notoriously dirty as well. )

Its rated at 120v AC.. your wall voltage can change during the day or night a few volts depending on heating or air conditioning being used.
Mine has been around 123v. And yes this will make the voltage change on the reansformer a little bit.

Well... more stupidity on my part...

The 303 volts was taken with the amp in standy-by. It's 292-0-292 with the amp completely on.
